Dance 4 Life On The Road

{October 31, 2008}   The DRILL

The Drill”, a dance and vocal routine, will connect you and your dance partners all over the world. Tour Teams in each country will teach The Drill to all the participating students. Together you will make a powerful statement of hope:

HIV and AIDS we can beat it
Take re-spon-si-bi-li-ty

People have a right to a life of
Love & health & harmony

HIV and AIDS we can beat it
Take re-spon-si-bi-li-ty

To-gether we cre-ate a fu-ture
World of pos-si-bil-ity

HIV and AIDS we can beat it
Take re-spon-si-bi-li-ty

I can
You can
Together we can all
BEAT IT!

{October 30, 2008}   Dance4Life BIG Event

The fourth stage is the thematic Dance4Life BIG Event, a reward for involvement, every two years on the Saturday before World AIDS Day. This mainly occurs at the end of the whole process, but sometimes it happens at the start, acting as a powerful launch.
Eleven countries were involved in 2006, with almost 100,000 young people participating. In 2008 there are 22 countries taking part! Every country has a slightly different approach, but the goal is the same everywhere: challenging the youth to become leaders instead of targets. Sharing knowledge and taking action.

By World AIDS Day 2014, we aim to have at least one million people dancing all over our planet, connected by satellite, making a powerful statement of hope. This is the climax of the Dance4Life Schools Projects. A million involved young people dancing will make such a positive statement that we will attract media, politicians and the general public all over the world!

{October 29, 2008}   FreeStyle YOUR Dance4Life!

We’re calling out for people to take part in the first ever Dance4Life Viral Campaign!

Join our global fight against HIV and AIDS.

Every 12 seconds another person around the world is infected with HIV so we want you to show us what you can do in 12 seconds to help push back HIV and AIDS. If you could Dance4Life, what would you do?

We want to raise awareness of Dance4Life and it’s work surrounding HIV. As most of our work is with 16-24 year olds, only this age group can win a prize by taking part but everyone has a chance to shine in this campaign!

It’s so easy to take part, all you have to do is record a 12 second video of yourself dancing, now be as creative as you like, the wilder the better we think….

You can record your video on your mobile phone or a video recorder. Then you need to become a fan on our Facebook fanpage, if you aren’t already and simply upload your video.

If you don’t know how to upload a video, here’s how; go to the Facebook fanpage and on the right hand side towards the bottom, there is a videos section. Click the ‘add videos’ button, and then select the ‘browse’ button to search for your recorded video on your computer. When you’ve found it and selected it, Facebook will start uploading it. Add your name to the ‘in this video’ box, enter the title ‘Dance4Life Competition Entry’ and if you fancy it, a descriptions of your dance moves. Save the information and continue following the step by step instructions that Facebook gives you.

The competition launches on 29th October and runs until 28th November so you have one month! So all that there is left to do now is wish you luck and enjoy recording your videos….

After this empowering visit, students become Agents of Change and begin their own actions – the second stage – like fundraising for AIDS prevention projects, advocacy towards their governments, and in all cases: active, in-depth involvement in a life-skills programme.

In the Life-Skills Programme – the third stage – young people learn negotiation skills (NO is NO), entrepreneurial skills, details on sexuality and prevention, human rights, the relationship between drug abuse and HIV, etc.

I’ll explain about stage four later in the week…….

The Dance4Life School and College Project is the most important part of Dance4Life! Every participating country organises the Schools Project, which is made up of four parts: a visit by the Dance4Life Tour Team, creating Agents of Change, life-skills programmes, and the Dance4Life BIG Event.

First, the Dance4Life Tour Team travels to tens of schools in several regions per country, to inspire youth in a funky and breathtaking way with musicians, dancers (to teach the worldwide Dance4Life Drill!), videos, peer educators and the inspiring stories of young people living with HIV/AIDS.

{October 24, 2008}   Dance4Life Commercial

At Dance4Life we constantly try to spread the word about how you can get involved in the global fight against HIV and AIDS. And the way we do that is by reaching out to as many people as we can. We have yet another way now to spread our message and that’s with our brand new commercial. You can find it on YouTube here. Leave a comment on the blog and let us know what you think…..

{October 22, 2008}   Dance4Life Album

As you probably already know, Dance4Life is a great cause; we give youth the opportunity to become actively involved in the global fight against AIDS and HIV. The main way is through the Dance4Life Schools Project, in lots of different countries.

However we’ve had some top DJs who also want to get involved and as they’ve left school already, the way they are helping is by donating a track so we have been able to make a Dance4Life album. All profits from the sale of the digital release will go to Dance4Life projects. Releases from top DJs such as Tiesto, Paul van Dyk and Judge Jules- amongst many, many more are featured on the album – so start spreading the word!

{October 20, 2008}   Dance4Life Competition

Last week we told you how you could get involved with Dance4Life by becoming an Agent4Change and that you can get tickets for our dance event that way. Well here is a little sneaky bit of information for the other way to get tickets to the dance event.

On 29th October we will be launching a competition it’s really easy to enter. All you have to do is record a 12 second video of yourself doing a dance routine and then upload it to our Facebook fanpage.

The best video will win a training session with D-Clash Nike Dance Athlete Team and 150 people, randomly selected for leaving a rating against submitted videos will win tickets to our Dance4Life event on 29th November. So get practicing folks ready for 29th October!

{October 17, 2008}   Dance4Life Event

So we’ve told you which amazing DJ’s are going to be at the Dance4Life event on 29th November, now I suppose you’re wondering how on earth you’ll get to attend this fantastic event right?

Well here’s one of the ways. You can become an Agent4Change, which means you come up with your own fundraising idea to help raise money for Dance4Life. It can be a dance event, a break dance party, and dance-off competition and if you’re a DJ, you can spin some records in aid of Dance4Life.

All you need to do it follow this link to register and you’ll receive materials to help you support Danve4Life: logos, poster, flyers, Dance4Life HIV fact sheet, banners, Dance4Life leaflet, stickers, sponsorship form, press release, clips and more. We’ll even put details of what you’re doing on this website! Once you’re registered, you’ll be told how you can get hold of your ticket!

Keep coming back for more info….

{October 16, 2008}   Dance4Life on the Road

Hi everyone and welcome to our brand new Dance4Life on the Road blog. This is a blog that will feature day to day news from Dance4Life and any behind the scenes info or gossip we can lay our hands on.

If you haven’t heard of Dance4Life before or don’t know much about it, let me tell you a little bit. Dance4Life is an international youth project pushing back HIV and AIDS and fighting the stigma and taboos that surround them, by dancing together 4 life.

HIV and AIDS are hitting the world’s young people the hardest.
Young people are growing up in a world changed by AIDS, yet many still lack comprehensive and correct knowledge about HIV and AIDS and how to prevent infection.

Dance4Life is all about giving youth the opportunity to become actively involved. The main way is through the Dance4Life Schools Project, in lots of different countries. But anyone can support Dance4Life, anywhere, anytime.

So, what better way to start our new blog, than to announce the confirmed DJ’s so far for our massive dance charity dance event at the Ministry of Sound on 29 November.
