{April 6, 2009}   News from Mozambique

Hi there everyone!

Here at Dance4Life it is always a great Monday if we receive any good new from Africa.

We are constantly monitoring and keeping up-to-date with any HIV prevention initiatives and safe sex education. This week we are glad to share with you a great idea from Mozambique. A school organized and promoted an exhibition with paintings  done by the little toddlers who are studying there.
After a few months of being taught about educational safe sex during lessons the children were invited to express their creativity regarding the topic: HIV prevention.
The name of the exhibition was “Eu tambem tenho sonho” Which means  “I have dreams too”

We are very happy to report  this story and every sign of hope from Africa.
Here are some of the fabulous masterpieces, which were sold for charity.

{January 28, 2009}   Dance4Life in Tamil Nadu

Hello there everybody!

Dance4Life has just received news from Verity Danbold – a dance4life Development Trainer currently working in Tamil Nadu!

Tamil Nadu is in rural India and despite monsoon rains the enthusiastic dancers at the KKG school there participated in the worldwide December 1 Dance4Life HIV/AIDS awareness day! The school provides 43 students (aged six to eighteen) with a sound education.

It is a residential school and the KKG gives its students a healthy, safe and nurturing environment to grow up in.
However, Tamil Nadu is officially recognized as having a high HIV/AIDS infection rate, accurate information is difficult – ‐if not impossible – to find. This is due to deep rooted denial of extra‐ or pre‐marital sex, which makes condom use and STD testing seen socially to be ‘unnecessary.’ People frequently die undiagnosed ‐ their deaths attributed only to the secondary infection caught as a result of HIV/AIDS. Many HIV/AIDS patients are sent to a TB treatment hospital, undeniably shortening their life span.

This again highlights just how important Dance4Life’s work can be;  sexual health education provided to the KKG students is vital. It’s easy to see why top DJ’s such as Tiesto, Judge Jules, Tim Westwood and Paul Van Dyk are all ambassadors!
The good news is following their weeks of health and sexual education the children were all well aware of HIV/AIDS. From the very youngest to the oldest, they all eagerly pledged to lead a safe and healthy life, suggesting everything from condom use to teeth brushing to a respectful and faithful marriage as ways to do this. After the announcement the winners proudly displayed their new Dance4Life pens ‐ a valuable commodity in India! In addition The following day the newspaper was filled with pictures of the children’s favorite stars also taking a stand against HIV/AIDS.

Dance4Life believes this is the most effective way to help beat HIV and AIDS. We hope you do too and will support Dance4Life for Life!

{January 16, 2009}   More about Dance4life

Hey there everyone!

We’ve been blogging lots lately about all the fun we have at Dance4life (Like great music from wordclass D.J’s such as Teisto, Paul Van Dyk and Tim Westwood, as well as fun videos and games) but it is important to remember the important reasons behind all of this!

Millions of people around the world are living with HIV or AIDS. According to the statistics published by UNIADS/ WHO in November 2007, 33.2 Million people are estimated to live with HIV and AIDS. Young people (under 25 years olf) account for half of all new infections worlwide. Young people and those living in countries in the Global South are most affected.

Support them by supporting Dance4Life. Give young people the opportunity to have control over HIV, and not the other way round.
If you want to support Dance4Life, then we want it to be as easy as possible. Just register with us, and you will get access to lots of materials to help you: logos, poster, flyers, Dance4Life HIV fact sheet, banners, Dance4Life leaflet, stickers, sponsorship form, press release, clips and more.
