Dance 4 Life On The Road

Surfing on the International Dance4life website we found an interesting link to a great way to use comics to deliver a serious message about human rights and HIV prejudice.

Stand up for human rights

It was made by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Here the link  to that comic story about a group of friends dealing with the stigma of HIV and AIDS, we loved it!

If you are a teacher or if you work a young community, why not print these 20 pages and help us to spread the message.

{June 3, 2009}   Dancing in the summer

After the great success of Dance4Life School and College Tour 2008 and the exiting planning for the 2009 tour, we were thinking about
organizing something in between!
So a great idea came up to our mind... we are trying to be included in the London Summer Universities programs.
Many summer program and social activities will be offered throughout all the London Universities, from sports, film, media, arts,
fashion, music and we want to be involved!

We will be involving a kind of training workshop where using musicians, dancers, videos, peer educators and the inspiring stories
of young people living with HIV/AIDS the Tour Team were able to motivate the youth in a funky and breathtaking way.

We will provide life-saving information about the HIV virus and how it is transmitted; about the spread of HIV on both a local and a global scale;
and about the powerful social consequences that stigma and discrimination have on the spread of the virus.
Everything of course is free of charge!!

Participation in the Dance4Life Schools Project will make students more socially aware, global citizens.

{May 19, 2009}   We have the same passion!

An 11 year old from Birmingham caught our attention on Saturday night on Britain’s got Talent.

His name is Aidan Davis and like us, here a Dance4Life, he has a strong passion for dance.
We can all agree that he is an amazing breakdancer – especially as he has never had dance lessons in his life!

Have a look at his performance on YouTube  – he is cute, funny and so, so talented.

Here at Dance4Life we really wish to find lots of young people like him to get involved with our 2009 schools tour!!

So if you be involved in a dynamic way and if you love dancing like Aidan and us, register your self and your school here!

Our tour includes music, dance, HIV information and the opportunity for students to interact directly with someone living with HIV.

Lets take action and make the change happen!

We love dancing, we love Dance4Life.

{May 15, 2009}   WELL DONE ASHIL!

Among 900 applications in the innovation category we recived we choose Ashil Shah from London.

He created a DVD for his school and local community, with the aim to inspire other young people to get involved with the Dance4Life project.

After the awards ceremony on 30th April 2009 he bacame an official Dance4Life Agent of Change and he will help us to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.

Young people who want to make a positive change to their local community or battle wider social problems are exactly what Dance4Life loves and is looking for.

Guys, come on, don’t waste your time, you could be the next one!!

Dance with us, Dance4Life.

On the Metro front page of yesterday there was a really sad news:
Britain is HIV king of Europe.

The article states:

“Britain has almost twice as many new cases
diagnosed in a year as any other West European county, new figures show.
The record number is 77,000 people with HIV and one in ten of new
diagnoses was among young people.”

If young people are the ones being affected by HIV, they are the ones that need to make a change and take action to push back the virus.

This is why Dance4Life  believes in the huge potential that young people have in the global challenge to tackle HIV.

To make this happen, Dance4Life approaches young people in a way that is appropriate and engaging to them.

The project informs, mobilizes and unifies young people through the use of dance, music, youth icons, encouraging them to learn more about HIV and to become active participants as agents of change in youth awareness, campaigning and fundraising.

Ending the pandemic is only possible if we do it together!

“Tell me and I will forget, Show me and I may remember, involve me and I will understand”  Confucius.

What Dance4Life brings to your school is not a lesson but a really fun experience!

Our Team teaches students important, life-saving information about the HIV virus and how it is transmitted;  about the spread of HIV on both alocal and a global scale; and about the powerful social consequences that stigma and discrimination have on the spread of the virus.
