Dance 4 Life On The Road

{June 26, 2009}   A ray of hope in 2010

"There are many organization that produce peer educators in masses but the SPW approach is highly flared. It's a group of natural,
creative and tolerant young men and women who are necessary for the needs of your nation today"
The ministry of youth Zimbabwe

We agree! For that reason we always loves working alongside and supporting Student Partnership Worldwide.

As every two years SPW will be at the International AIDS conference, after Toronto 2006 and Mexico 2008,
Vienna, Austria has been chosen to host the XVIII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2010),
the largest international meeting on HIV, where every two years 25,000 participants
representing all stakeholders in the global response to HIV meet to assess progress and identify future priorities.

Because the 2010 conference will coincide with the deadline that world leaders set for the goal of providing universal
access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, all eyes of the world will be upon Vienna,
and Dance4Life will have his heart there.

"The time has never been better to invest in young people living in developing countries"

So, well done again SPW we are dancing with you, Dance4Life.

{June 24, 2009}   Remembering Thembi

Here at Dance4Life we would like to pay tribute to Thembi Ngubane our friend and diarist who died few days ago at the age of 24.

thembi

Thembi was diagnosed as HIV positive when she was a teenager and from the age of 19
she dedicated her life to speak out against stigma and discrimination caused by AIDS.
Thembi was a true hero who spoke out about living with HIV and recorded a year-long radio diary
Thembi’s AIDS Audio Diary’ that was broadcast in 12 countries and five languages
and though unique sense of humor Thembi collected over 50 hours of audio from her life.

AIDS is such a faceless issue and I knew that I wanted to personalize it, humanize it”

Here as a tribute to her a Dance4Life moodclip film in which she featured.

Your story really inspired us Thembi, we will never forget you, Dance4Life

{June 16, 2009}   Sharing the voice
Refugee Week is a UK wide programme of events which celebrates the contribution of refugees to the UK.

During this special week, hundreds of events exploring refugee experiences take place across the UK.

These range from small community and school activities to art exhibitions,
political debates, film screenings, conferences, big music festivals, sports events etc...

We here at Dance4Life decided to get involved on Sunday the 14th at the South Bank side of London -
We loved their slogan "Different pasts, shared future" and during this sunny day we had loads of fun supporting the initiative.
It was a great way to spread an unique voice all together for human rights and for a better world.

{June 11, 2009}   Write the date in your diary!

We all know the 1st of December as the world wild Aids day but an other important day to build awareness about AIDS is the 27th of June.
Since the 1995 in U.S. that date is the National HIV Testing Day.

National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) is an annual campaign coordinated by the National Association of People with AIDS to encourage people of all ages
to “Take the Test, Take Control” and where local organizations across the nation engage with communities to promote early diagnosis and HIV-testing.

HIV testingday

Dance4Life believes in every single step to raise the responsibility to do more as individuals, as communities, and as a nation to fight HIV and AIDS.
In our opinion that day should be world wild and the government around the world have been asked to strengthen their
State’s capacity to provide HIV testing and services through this campaign that mobilizes the State AIDS Directors and Health Departments.

{June 10, 2009}   Celebrity Picnic against AIDS

Last weekend in Los Angeles hundreds of celebrities and their families showed their support for the battle against AIDS last Sunday in Los Angeles.

Games, sandwich and a lot of fun to raise money for the research and to prevent spread of HIV.

This great initiative was organized by Disney, along with The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the Hollywood star system came out
with their family to support the good cause.

Dance4Life loves that kind of events!

In the V.I.P. we recognized: Sharon Stone, with sons Laird and Quinn, Heidi Klum, David Charvet and daughter Heaven Rain, Joe Pesci and many more!
The day was topped off with a concert by teen sensation Miley Cyrus and her band.

Well done west coast, from the other side of the ocean we support you in
your quest to create a generation free of HIV.

Surfing on the International Dance4life website we found an interesting link to a great way to use comics to deliver a serious message about human rights and HIV prejudice.

Stand up for human rights

It was made by the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Here the link  to that comic story about a group of friends dealing with the stigma of HIV and AIDS, we loved it!

If you are a teacher or if you work a young community, why not print these 20 pages and help us to spread the message.

{June 5, 2009}   We Do Have Talent
At the end of that busy week, here at Dance4Life we realized we didn't had the chance
to congratulate with the British's got Talent winners.

The challenge was won by the Diversity dancers which includes three sets of brothers and are a multi-ethnic group
(they could represent us perfectly!)

Global phenomenon, Susan Boyle, (or SuBo!) not winning left us quite surprised... but at the end we
prefer dancing than singing.... !!
So... well done guys!

HERE IS THEIR GREAT FINAL VIDEO

Unfortunately our favorite, the cute kid, who had street-dancing ability beyond his years,
Aiden Davis, didn't make the top 3, but we are sure about his future success!

Now guys, we wish you all a great dancing weekend, we will return on Monday!

{June 3, 2009}   Dancing in the summer

After the great success of Dance4Life School and College Tour 2008 and the exiting planning for the 2009 tour, we were thinking about
organizing something in between!
So a great idea came up to our mind... we are trying to be included in the London Summer Universities programs.
Many summer program and social activities will be offered throughout all the London Universities, from sports, film, media, arts,
fashion, music and we want to be involved!

We will be involving a kind of training workshop where using musicians, dancers, videos, peer educators and the inspiring stories
of young people living with HIV/AIDS the Tour Team were able to motivate the youth in a funky and breathtaking way.

We will provide life-saving information about the HIV virus and how it is transmitted; about the spread of HIV on both a local and a global scale;
and about the powerful social consequences that stigma and discrimination have on the spread of the virus.
Everything of course is free of charge!!

Participation in the Dance4Life Schools Project will make students more socially aware, global citizens.

Sounds interesting?
Recommend us to your University and you've already done a big step to fighting hiv.

Dance in the summer with us, Dance4Life
